Yes, The Hub can use your bicycle or parts regardless of condition or age. We can operate only if we have bicycles for those who want a bicycle, so your donation is crucial to the operation of The Hub. You can drop a bicycle off during open hours or we will come pick it up for you. Please contact us at thehubbeaverfalls@gmail.com to arrange a pickup time.
Also, this weekend we will be running a bicycle drive in Beaver Falls and Beaver to collect bicycles. If you live in one of these neighborhoods, you'll receive a door hanger specifying an approximate time when we will arrive at your street on Sunday. Additionally, we can also arrange an alternative pickup time if needed. Please email us at the email address above if needed.
How Do I Get A Bicycle?
The Hub allows anyone who wants a bike to earn a bike. We don't give out bikes and we shy away from taking money. Rather, we work through 'sweat equity.' So whatever is the cost of a bicycle at The Hub, you volunteer the number of necessary hours to earn the bike. Most bicycles require anywhere from 3 to 10 hours of volunteer time, depending on the condition of the bicycle. Volunteering can be anything from taking apart scrap bicycles to designing fliers.
What If I Don't Know Anything About Work On Bicycles?!
That's what we're here for! Our volunteers will help teach you the skills to work on your bicycle. We hope to share our knowledge about bicycles so that you can pass on this knowledge to others. We believe that anyone can learn how to fix a bicycle, young or old, male or female. It's much less intimidating than it sounds and in a few hours you can obtain many skills that'll keep your bike running problem free.
Where Are You Located?
We're located in Beaver Falls, a town about an hour northwest of Pittsburgh. We're located at 2108 7th Ave, right near 21st St. Walk to the back and go down the steps into the basement. Our open hours are currently from 7:00PM to 9:30PM on Monday evenings. Please email us at thehubbeaverfalls@gmail.com if you plan on coming during an evening and if you have any specific needs, such as a bicycle or parts.
